The classic Diamond Circle is a “must do” in Northern Iceland. It is one of the most marvellous routes you can take, hot springs, enormous canyons, powerful waterfalls and unique volcanic formations are what you can expect to see. Some of the highlights are: Dettifoss waterfall, Húsavík (the Whale watching capital of Iceland), Ásbyrgi, Goðafoss and Dimmuborgir.
Following is an example of a “Diamond Circle Day”: Pick-up is around 9 in the morning (other times are available for private tours). From the “pick-up” point we departure towards the Ásbyrgi canyon in Vatnajökull National Park. On the way there we will stop at a few viewing points on the unique Tjörnes peninsula. In Ásbyrgi we will do a couple of scenic walks and have lunch. From Ásbyrgi we head towards Húsavík which is referred to as the whale watching capital of Iceland, where we make a short stop in the harbour before continuing towards Dettifoss waterfall and the Lake Mývatn area. After walking down to the most powerful waterfall in Europe we stop by the bubbling mud pods by Námafjall. The next thing we do is to visit Dimmuborgi (e. the Dark Castles) and continuing towards Akureyri with a stop at Goðafoss waterfall
